Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show a way to better visualize a mathematical model through semantic networks in order to obtain a graphic view of the relationships between the components of the problem that will be modeled. A mathematical model is a description of a system using mathematical concepts and language. The process of developing a mathematical model is termed mathematical modeling. The main idea is to use semantic networks to make the connection between the elements involved in modeling, for example, the concepts, operators and all the possible characteristics of the objects that intervene in their processes and events in a fragment of reality for the problem to solve. The construction of mathematical models through semantic networks seems to be more evident in the sense that the relations of the different components of the system with the model will be more unquestionable; as a consequence, semantic networks can help to better understand how the mathematical modeling of a physical phenomenon of engineering or of another field of knowledge can be carried out more easily, since the semantic network clearly describes the relationships of objects and concepts of the physical phenomenon of engineering or problem that will be modeled.
