This research achieved the development and evaluation of a software tool that applies principles of classical and balanced assignment problem to support the production scheduling for the machinery in fabric area at textile companies. The research approach was both quantitative and qualitative. It was applied in an anonymous company in the January-July 2014 period. The general methodology of the research was carried out in phases. The indicators to follow were: total percentage of the machinery downtime, degree of standardization of the procedure and degree of satisfaction of the production managers regarding the scheduling of fabric machines. It was possible to obtain positive results in minimizing the machinery downtime and standardize the procedure for production scheduling in the fabric area of the company.
